Whew! I thought 2016 would never end.
It was a rollercoaster of a year, filled with incredible highs and gut-wrenching lows.
Here are the highlights
- (high) Gavin Quinn of Mindset Consulting sponsored my ticket to the SAP Tech-Ed conference and included me in the team’s activities
- (high) My second son was born early, but healthy. It was also the first time I’ve seen the birth of my child (and not traveling for client work)
- (low) My grandfather-in-law passed away, and my grandmother-in-law was hospitalized soon after
- (low) I was suddenly released from a long-term engagement due to budget issues
The last three things happened in the same month if you can believe it.
Stress is filling out medical coverage forms for your newborn and learning that a client changed directions. I wouldn’t wish that situation on anyone.
Luckily, I had a small but very personal network that I could call.
More so than anything else, I owe it to these remarkable people who not only allowed me to freak out in private (and not at the office) but also encouraged me to move forward.
Needless to say, my friends helped me celebrate the ups and get through the downs of the past year.
Here’s how I’d like to remember 2016.
The Cast
(FYI. They were all guests on my podcast, Experts & Influencers)
As for 2017, a question can best summarize my focus for the new year. My good friend Amber asked after a recent dinner, “What can I do for you?” (She’s always thinking of others)
I’ve been thinking about that question and I’d like to ask you for help.
What is most valuable to you?
What is the one article I could write, one concept that I could explain, or one thing that I can do that would make your day easier?
