The Trouble with SAP Data Warehouse + Analytics Cloud

The integration between SAP Data Warehouse Cloud and Analytics Cloud is a funny thing (tl;dr: it’s a feature)

Having been an early adopter of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) in 2017 and having guided many clients through their initial dashboard projects, I thought I knew the ins and outs of the various integration issues.

For example, a customer can expect certain functionalities of SAC to be available when paired with a HANA data warehouse live-data connection and a subset of features are available when paired with a Business Warehouse (BW) or S4HANA (S4) source system.

Regardless of the source system, the process is the same for a Live Data Connection. That’s not the case with Data Warehouse Cloud (DWC).

Dashboards vs Applications

What’s the difference between dashboards and applications in SAP Analytics Cloud? Here’s my 2-cents.

Hello everyone. This is Hau from Summerlin Analytics.

Recently, I gave a workshop on building custom applications with SAP Analytics Cloud.

For those who are familiar with the drag-and-drop nature of building dashboards with Analytics Cloud, then you know it has a very simple interface that allows you quickly to put together a series of charts for your business.

How A Global Organizational Consulting Firm Won Business Adoption with SAP Analytics Cloud

Using an upside-down approach, a small team at a global organizational consulting firm overhauled their reporting systems and delivered interactive dashboards to industry leaders along and over 5500 users world-wide.

Challenge

The analytics project began out of frustration from their business community.

Executives used one system to see an overview of their business while Account Managers used an altogether different system to get granular information about their customers and opportunities.

Depending on the level of detail, users had to to log into two different systems.

Flatten Your Dashboard

Do you have too many tabs in your dashboard? Are you looking for a way to slim down your story?

If your dashboard is suffering from too many tabs, then here’s a super simple way to slim that number down. Not only will this reduce the amount of charts tiles and other things that you have to maintain, it will also make your users happier because they only need 1 tab instead of 5 (for example).

This approach works best for pages where the layout is relatively the same and the main difference is the measure that would like to display.
